Mums, Dads and children visiting this year’s Llangollen International Musical Eisteddfod will be joined by Principality children’s mascot, Dylan the Dragon, to enjoy the array of festival and musical treats as the building society adds the festival to its summer events programme.

Principality Building Society, long-term sponsor of the National Eisteddfod for Wales, has extended its support of arts and cultural initiatives to Llangollen’s ‘Family Day’, on Saturday 9 July.

The Society will be the only financial services provider to have a presence on the Eisteddfod field this year, and indeed for the last ten years.

David Critcher, Principality’s Regional North Wales Manager, said: “Llangollen International Musical Eisteddfod has gone from strength to strength and is an important part of Wales’ cultural landscape. The festival draws people from all over the world to North Wales, placing this part of the world firmly on the map.

“We are delighted to support this event for the first time in Llangollen’s 65th anniversary year. Arts funding has received a blow with the reductions announced in last year’s comprehensive spending review. Today’s announcement is a visual demonstration of our commitment to continuing the traditions and heritage of Wales.”

Also on the Eisteddfod field, Principality will be showcasing its exclusive Instant Access Summer Saver Account at the event, available only to those who attend the Principality stand on ‘Family Day’.

Mervyn Cousins, Chief Executive of the Eisteddfod, said: “We are thrilled to welcome Principality Building Society to the Llangollen Eisteddfod as supporters of our highly successful ‘Family Day’. We hope to welcome families from near and far to join our celebrations and make this 65th Eisteddfod the best ever. Bring the whole family for a truly international day out and meet Dylan the Dragon in his first appearance at the Eisteddfod.”

Llangollen is famed for securing the biggest names in the music industry to perform at the headline concerts. This year is to be no exception; singing sensation Lulu, performs at the Opening Gala Concert on Monday with her special guests including Rick Astley and Kiki Dee!

Others performing during the week include McFly, Russell Watson and Ruthie Henshall. Choir of the World features guest of honour Julian Lloyd Webber who will be performing the @SIX concert on Saturday 9th July.  Tickets are still available for the evening concerts throughout the week.
